Golden Hour Maternity Photoshoot

Golden Hour Maternity Shoot on Clyde Fant Parkway – Shreveport, LA

 Erin Blake Photography

There’s something truly magical about a golden hour maternity shoot—especially when it takes place in one of my favorite hidden gems in Shreveport, Louisiana. Nestled along Clyde Fant Parkway, there’s a little rock pond I always love returning to. With its unique rock formations, vibrant greenery, and peaceful, tucked-away vibe, it’s the perfect setting for capturing those glowing, heartfelt moments.

Recently, I had the pleasure of photographing a sweet young family expecting their second child. Their four-year-old son was full of energy and excitement about becoming a big brother, and their joy was absolutely contagious. The warm, golden tones of the setting sun kissed everything in sight—the rocks, the pond, and this beautiful family—creating a dreamlike atmosphere that made every frame feel like a storybook moment.

As a family photographer in Shreveport, LA, specializing in maternity, newborn, and family photography, shoots like these remind me why I love what I do. This session felt extra special not just because of the scenery or the stunning light, but because of the connection we shared. The parents and I bonded over our introverted personalities and our similar experiences raising young kids. It’s always refreshing to connect with clients on such a personal level—it makes the photos that much more authentic and heartfelt.

Of course, no shoot goes entirely according to plan. As the sun dipped below the horizon, we were racing the light, and things got a little tricky. Shadows crept in faster than expected, but we still managed to capture some incredible, moody golden-hour shots before it got too dark. And, in a moment I’ll never live down, I had a bit of an embarrassing tumble while climbing off one of the rocks—classic me! But even through the fall, my camera was safe, and I ended up capturing one of my favorite images from the entire session right after. Worth it? Absolutely.

This session was a reminder that sometimes the best photos come when things don’t go perfectly. It was messy, fun, sweet, and unforgettable—just like parenthood. I’m so excited to work with this family again in the future and want to send them a huge congratulations on their new baby girl!
